Idol Worshippers Poem by Olusegun Sotade

Idol Worshippers

Bowed head in worship of statue is the fate
of the biggest fool to idol he made.
Foolishness that outweighs gauge in full shade
is the shame incurred for being subjected to idols his hands create.

So disgusting is the source of your orientation's incubator.
When has it become wise for the created to lord it over the creator?
Where is the common sense to discern the essence
of real sense in the presence of this nonsense?

You are far gone from the truth.
Little wonder jargon yields tantalizing fruit
to usher your way into destroying faculty
where redemption of your soul is in difficulty.

Statue that neither moves, speaks nor eats you present your offering.
Legacy of destructive end you laid down for your offspring.
How can a storey-building without stairs be up-linked?
How will it be a settled case for lion to follow dog's lead?

Your art is a prefect in the school of fools.
Experiment of vanity in your opinion is cool.
Hope it won't be too late to have drenched in your blood pool
before acknowledging the track of wisdom-tools.

Only a fool constrained his being by his deeds.
A friend in need is a friend indeed.
Why do you keep the company of what is made of tree
Believing it will set you free and shower you with victory?
