If I Am A Priest Poem by Okoemu Okoemu Okoemu

If I Am A Priest

In line of Mekizedech of old.
Who holds dear to the rubrics
As well as scriptures,
Sacred tradition and magisterium
To the letter and to the spirit
To celebrate the sacrifice
Without interference
Just as solemn as it should be
With just the rites
Nothing extra,
Not even the mere Eucharistic offerings
Those and others to be done
On a personal ground
Not during the mass
Not in public just privately
Between you, God and the church.
In others, strictly
Without interruption.
If I am a Priest.
