If I Could Live Inside A Poem Poem by Shane Dickie

If I Could Live Inside A Poem

Inside a poem I could live and breathe,
Travel from word to word exploring the poem's form
Ride the waves of the words, Rhyme and rhythm
Expand my mind with its syntax, sounds,
Inside a poem I could bounce around from word to word,
Defining and redefining the words' meanings,
Like the crashing crescendo of slipping off
The end of the slide,
The poem's finale delivers me onto
A climatic crescent where I can live
As long as I desire, thrilling in the poem's beauty
Mystery and paining in its mire,
A poem has everything I need to live,
Where is your threshold?
How do I find the way in?
