If I Could Will My Dreams Poem by David Chishimba

If I Could Will My Dreams

If I could will my dreams
I would dream about the love of my life
In the garden our hands gliding on fresh lilies as we chess each other..
I would dream about our wedding day, over and over again..
Mostly the 'I do' part'. Because that would make me fall even deeper..

If I could will my dreams,
I would dream about grandmother
Her tender and loving heart
I would dream about grandfather
His ever cheerful face and ever warm company..
Those old creaking bones sometimes made me laugh till I cried..

If I could will my dreams,
I would dream about everyone I have ever known, at a party, merry making.
Everyone laughing and dancing with cups in their hands..

If I could will my dreams,
I would dream about painting the MONALISA,
I would dream about singing with Lorde, Sia, Skylar Grey or One Direction..

If I could will my dreams,
I would dream about giving aid to people in Haiti, Congo, Iraq and all the troubled countries in between..
I would dream about giving aid to orphans all over the world..

If only I could..
