IF I COULD WRITE A POEM FOR EACH PERSON I HAVE KNOWN AND CARED ABOUT

If I could write a poem for each person I have known and cared about,
If I could say something of the goodness and pain of their lives,
If could write them as they truly were or are-

But who can write a whole life truly
And what could it mean to them
Or their eternal happiness?

Their lives were and are beyond my writing of them
And my words and my feelings
Are only my own.

Each one his own story and name.
