If I Keep Pretending, I'Ll Become An Actor Poem by Courtney Beaudry

If I Keep Pretending, I'Ll Become An Actor

In arms I thought were sacred
Where the sweet nothings reached my ear
If there was nothing behind it all
That's all I had to fear
To find yourself in the place
To not know what's behind that face
And to find that all you had to come to know
Was always ready to go!

In steadfast love assuringly
Always contemplating me
And never to find it true
Oh I wasted my time on you
But as you let my spirit go
Just know
That your last wish and promise is fulfilled
That I shall go on living
And that my love is not wasted
On him

I believed one heart was I
But I guess I could not recognize
That it was never one
And that mine was torn as well

Okay we've moved past the part
About our tormented but yet we thought
Loving heats
So now we've begun to tell
The story that will one day sell
I had love for you
Even when my heart was two
But now it goes for one
I know it's the better one!

In steadfast love assuringly
Always contemplating me
And never to find it true
Oh I wasted my time on you
But as you let my spirit go
Just know
That your last wish and promise is fulfilled
That I shall go on living
And that my love is not wasted
On him

So in time, I guess we'll find
This is the more explained situation
And that this time was good and all
But it was destined to fall
And now it's gone
And I must say
I want it to stay this way!

In steadfast love assuringly
Always contemplating me
And never to find it true
Oh I wasted my time on you
But as you let my spirit go
Just know
That your last wish and promise is fulfilled
That I shall go on living
And that my love is not wasted
On him
