If Only Poem by Parker Perrella

If Only

If only the quantity of my joy
Could match the quantity of my blessings,
If only my happiness could employ
My soul- Indeed, I would be progressing.

If only my soul were content with Thee,
Being satisfied with heavenly things,
The chains of worldly greed would not hold me,
You would be the one to whom my heart clings.

If only my heart yearned for Thy true word,
Just as a man's dry tongue yearns for water,
My longing thirst would be forever cured,
Oh, my lukewarm soul cries to burn hotter!

An infinite God is one worth trusting,
Of limitations, my God knows nothing.
