If Only... Poem by GRANT FRASER

If Only...

If only you knew
you would love me,

if only I knew,
I would hand you
whatever it is I know,

if only I was sure
about what I thought
or found,

if only...

the heart could inform
me,
about your big 'love',

if only I kicked
it, or didn't ever
truly face what it was,

a big brown mysterious
nail with a curl,

if only you would
stop melting everybody,

how could anything this
cold ever ever melt?

if only your

imagination would
even let you -

consider?

if only I got a hold
of 'if only',

'if only' two things
masticating on a mind,
a heart and a mouth,

if only cut short
with a stamp of a foot,

bloodless spatter!
