If Only I Could Write! Poem by Denis Martindale

My word, if only I could write,
What tales this mind could tell,
Yes, I would write by day and night,
About Heaven and Hell,
About villains and heroes,
And fantasies sublime,
Of travellers across this world
And travellers through time!

My word, imagine when I write,
Composing now and then,
As I explore each new insight
That God could share with men,
About God's Psalms and sermons,
And Gospel truths divine,
And miracles for all Mankind,
And not just yours or mine!

My word, what prophecies could come
That my God would reveal,
Beyond the ones revealed to some,
That they have shared with zeal,
About kingdoms and cities
Blessed by amazing grace,
My word, if only you could see
The smile here on my face!
