If You Insist Poem by Hm. Nes

If You Insist

'I do not wish to climb the mountain, ' he said.
'I never did, ' he said.
'But, if you insist, I will do so.
'I'll climb the mountain, ' he said.
'Join you in your quest, if you insist-
'If you really must have me along-
'As long as, ' he said, 'you fetch the stuff:
'The maps, the gear, the mess-
'All that's needed for the journey-
'Remember, ' he said
'I did not wish to climb the mountain.'
