If You Listen

If you listen,
you may hear the stars
whispering to one another
arguing who is the brightest one

If you listen closer,
you may hear the sun
with songs and poems
trying to win the moon's heart

If you listen even closer,
you may hear the ocean
one after the other
waves sing to the dimming sky

But you don't need to listen
to see that I'm alive
beat by beat
I sing to the love and sorrow
that make me feel alive
