If You Must Remember Me Poem by Okunola Peace

If You Must Remember Me

Remember me like matyrs of old
When I have taken the journey to another world,
When hope is bright and the earth rejoice,
When dirt is scraped and all is new.

Remember me as a man of valor;
A man of strong will and strong heart,
A man of God, a man of light
In the newness of day and night.

Remember me when the world thrive;
When the birds sing and the forest are green;
When the sea is blue and the season smile;
When the harvest is vast and the food is sweet.

Remember me when I need your strength
To be my comfort and cradle
In days to come; in future unseen
When the storm rises and the tempest rages.
