IF YOU WANT TO WRITE A POEM FOR ME

If you want to write a poem for me
It must go beyond poetry-

I do not know if you can do that
I am not sure I am capable of perceiving it-

Perhaps I am already too old
And hearing a truly new poem
Is something that is left for others-

Perhaps too all I ever wanted after all
Is to hear my own poem-

And perhaps listening to you
Even if your poem is real
Will be far too much for me.
