Ifem Poem by Ekwueme Kelechi

Ifem

There are two plots of land
In my grandfather's vineyard
The best of his assets
That made him shed the blood of his skin

One I give to you without a pay
For your divine design has paid it all
Take it my jewel
They represent you and I

The number of natural completeness
Unlock the door of your smile
Which paints my day
And furnishes my heart

Ifem, my jewel
Hasten, my legs are pregnant for Sekem
Hasten before they're tombed in the grave of impatience
We must make it on time to the best of my grandfather's asset

Where my legs shall let loose
The long caged dance of Sekem

***********
*Ifem- my own
*Sekem- a dancing style
