Illicit Love Poem by Phillip Nine Mafunga

Illicit Love

I'm in a struggle
Feelings I know are illicit
About you day in day out
At ord hours your face in my thoughts
At strange intervals your name in my vision
Strong emotions well up in me
I know I mustn't but I've suppressed it for too long
Can I keep holding it out, I wander
Hear me out and please hear me well
I know its wrong, but for me now it's strong
So strong I thought you've to know
That I desire to be in your heart always
But sadly its more complicated, I know
If I could, I would only if you could as well
For fifteen years I've tried not to but not any more.
