Im Glad I Saved The Best For Last - Poem by grezlay figueroa
the way we talked.
the way we kissed.
I've never felt something like this.
the temptation in the wait,
the unexpected intro.
the place where we first met,
the fact we weren't friends yet.
the way you held me tight,
and every time we would talk,
you would want to stare dead into my eyes.
making me shiver
me looking away...
yet, waiting for, the next day to be my next
the best of the best.
he was from the west.
the sun would never set, that direction
when it was time to rest.
but the full moon
somehow always shun above you,
and thats how i knew...darn it... its true.
i didn't expect it to last...
not even a month...
as a matter of fact, you did prove me wrong.
that was until, i woke up one day- the day the leaves stood still. Not one did i watch fall onto the floor.
i knew to this day, there had to be more.
and once again, you proved me wrong
it didn't last, not that long.
but I'm glad i saved the best for last...because of you
there's shattered glass.
