Images Poem by Adrienne Simon

Hesitation kept me still
Confliction brought me here
see I never thought that you would be so near
This is not right
No we can't be
Because you're an image of her
And she left me
True you are different
And yes I can give you all of me
But no I can't say that it isn't her face I see
When you move abruptly on the court
The way your smile brightens my day
It reminds me of someone that I caused so much pain
I guess thats why hesitation was in my way
See it bothers me
The nightmare I once was
The way I hurt her when I was on alcohol and drugs
The confliction lies here
between who I was and who I am
And the reminders trigger thoughts
trigger images of her and me
And this is why we simply can't be
The images are there and I can't bare to see
