My Last Breathe Poem by Adrienne Simon

My Last Breathe

Rating: 5.0

I ran for miles and miles, trying to escape it all
The loud music, the screaming it all happened so quick
There I was on the concrete flashes of my life played in my head
What if this was my last breathe, what if I was soon to be dead
'I love you mom and I forgive you' I told her just now
'Rayven find it in your heart to forgive me someway, somehow'
'Grandma please help me up, please don't let me leave'
'I love you Adrianna, but it's time to go to sleep'
'God thank you for all the blessings you have given me.'
'Lord I am your tool use me as you please'
I saw my sisters and brothers and started to scream
Who was going to take care of them?
Why was my beautiful daughter being seperated from me?
My hands were sweaty and I begin to cry
Lord if it is truly my time then go ahead and take me now
My eyes opened from this horrible dream
But it wasn't a dream, I'd been beaten and robbed
Left to die and in what was suppose to be my last breathe
I begin to think and cry
All of these things that flashed in my head
Now was the time to change and speak
The Lord kept me here and I thank him for giving me opportunity
To speak and do all the things that played
because in my last breathe this is all I want to have to say
'Lord thank you and it's good to come home'
