IMAGINATION THAT BECAME DESTINY
As a child my imagination was wild
Compared to my personality that was mild
When the days were ruff
And I was forced to be tuff
At night when I went to bed
Plays would unfold in my head
So daring and bold
One of seven kids I never wanted to fit into a mold
A tree would become El Capitan
A bike would become a horse of tan
My toy farm animals were made pens
Where twigs and sticks had been
A cloud would take on shapes
A man flying with a cape
A cat
A rat
Even a door- mat
I could be a teacher
Or even a preacher
I could be an only child
Or live in the woods and be wild
As an adult I don’t need my imagination when life gets ruff
My job as a nurse in the ER is enough
I get more excited with every Trauma call
Then I did as a child during a free fall
I found my destiny at last
Inspired by my wild imaginary past
