Immortality (Bring Unto Me, Thanatos) Poem by Meghan

Immortality (Bring Unto Me, Thanatos)

one and one, I'm counting time
the landscape has changed and so have I
centuries upon the Earth, I've seen a million seasons pass
thinking each and every one should surely be my last
by now I am beginning to think I am unlike all that
I have watched come and go
unlike all the trees that have snapped after years of bending to and fro
unlike the winding rivers that went so soon dry
I have flowed on for countless years, timid and afraid to die
I've overlooked endless skies
seen the tears of a thousand eyes
to see tracks and footsteps buried deep beyond new sand
I've been here since the beginning, watched the seeds grow in creation's hand
I don't know why I've been here so long
something must be wrong
cause I have to be, got to be, moving on
