Impenetrable Heart Poem by Lorraine Licona

Impenetrable Heart

Rating: 5.0

As I watched you lying there
bathed in morning sun
skin shimmering in rainbow colors
hair touched with gold
I ran my fingers across your body
gently feeling the softness of your naked flesh
and wondered if
in your sleep
your heart feels peace and knows no pain
For you
my love
who I have loved so dearly
who has captured my heart
but does not see
the love I hold so deep
who has wounded my soul
without knowing what he has done
sleeps innocently now like a child
dreaming sweet dreams
Yet I know your heart in it's own way -
betrayed in the past
but also betrayer -
has feelings too
And like an old door that has weathered shut
from wind and rain
sun and snow
so your heart has grown cold and insensitive
I must keep pulling until my strength is no more
until my last breath is done
to open it -
to see the beautiful garden you have prepared -
sculptured and cultivated
for that one love who you can finally trust -
the one who can finally penetrate the darkness
You once said to me
that you have nothing to give
but your love
My love
your love is all I desire
