In Almost Every Society There Is The Ladies Book Club

THE LADIES' BOOK CLUB MEETING
I found the book was hard to get,
Now I haven't tried these nibbles yet.
But I found the plot in chapter four
enticed to read a whole lot more
as the characters became so many
in a library book that never cost a penny.

Oh yes I read it all. I really had a ball.
You didn't have the time?
I thought this book was just sublime.
So you couldn't find a copy,
That really is a pity, and when you did you only read a bit.
Only to find you didn't like it, far too much grit.

Please pass the wine, yes I'll have the red
I'll feel much better home in bed.
I find the white is rather sweet
It makes me feel I want to eat.
The big surprise was when with opened eyes
She came to life, she didn't die.

Have you heard about the neighbourhood?
What's the news is it bad or good?
I liked the bit where he gets caught.
Unfaithful men really ought.
But really that detective is rather grey
His character is far too strong I say.

Oh, here we have some fresh hot food.
On colder nights it's rather good.
But pass the red now if you please
I've contracted thirst disease.
In fact I can't get quite enough
And when supply's all gone it's rather tough.

What's our next book we'd like to know?
And to whose home are we to go?
The book is rather incidental.
The stimulation's mostly mental.
The conversation food and wine
Will always help us pass the time.
