Music Is Embraced In All Areas Of Life And There Is A Song For Every Occasion

Always a song

Here in my body beats the rhythm of life.
Known before I was born as the signal of good
that thud which responds to joy, threat or repulse
partnering with action and mind in absolute union.

Feeling the magic of music,
emotions exposed like tears, in songs
lift us up or take us down, involuntary response,
whole body engaged by the rhythmical syncopator.

And we sing.
We reverberate, resonate, communicate
history's stories, love and romance, revolution,
Soft sweet lullaby, or call to come dance.

Grand symphonies, operas or plays
bring pathos, drama, laughs and romance,
all on the strength of the music and a song.
Engaged, we are carried along, heart, body, and mind.

United by our national anthem
we strive for our common good
celebrated by portrayal of victory in song
tribal explosivity, uninhibited and boisterous.

Here in my body, be it the resonant hum
or the loud beat of the drum that reverberates, I respond
even to that same feeling as I sing, aware of self
in solo or chorus when the conductor batons the beat.

Soothing, caring, the lullaby caresses the mind to sleep
aware of the heartbeat of embrace and within our frame
relaxed, transported, unthreatened, we are
borne up by a melody, transfixed in a dream.
