In Hope Of Finding Path

I should have failed to take pains
Knowing we would have never, never met,
And shared all that seasons
Would have bought for us-
the joys of all the empyreans.
But I happily crossed my fingers
And sought of you
All over creation:
by the strange sidewalks of thick ghettos,
in the depths of moonless cities,
Night after night,
Stranded without destiny,
Forgotten by sound,
Whisper or songs
To find if your voice echoed
The torment of my ravaged future
