In Loving Memory Poem by Roselyn A.M.

In Loving Memory

Lighted bulbs fill the room
But I’m totally enveloped by gloom
Flowers scent freshens the air
Yet I was suffocated, I was in pain

Still I can’t believe this fact
This tragedy that has shaken us
Our lives have changed suddenly
You’re gone and we’re all in misery

I know there is no like any other pain
Than the pain of losing someone so dear
But we have to face everybody’s fate
We have to accept that you’re no longer here

This sadness is so unbearable
But you can’t console us anymore
Unlike what you did before
When someone gets hurt
And runs to you for comfort

You’ve been a good mother to us
And no matter what wrongs we’ve done
You’ve always had open hands
You had always that selfless love

As I sat beside your wake
A million thoughts rock in my head
I recollect and ask myself
Did I give you the best love I have

My best memories of you
Are those jokes and tears we shared
Each moment we spent together
Will be precious for me forever

You always said before you died
You are afraid of death, of leaving us
So we did our best to prolong your life
But who are we to keep you alive

Now I know you’re happy where you are
Feeling no pain and safe in the arms of God
Though you are lifeless and cold now
Your love will never be apart from us

I cried hard as I looked down on your face
You’re calm yet you can’t hear me say
“I love you my mother-in-law…my friend
And from the deepest part of my brain
Your memory will forever remain
