In Memoryofted Poem by Francis Duggan

In Memoryofted

Not every day for one can be a good day
That life has it's sorrows only true to say
As the good woman Jenny White knows all too well
Of her life she has some sad stories to tell

The death of her border collie Ted for her a heart-breaking loss
He died on the roadway at Southern Cross
Before going to bed she forgot the shut the yard gate
And Ted wandered on to the roadway to meet a cruel fate

Though Ted was a dog well advanced in years
He was one well worthy of parting tears
He loved Jenny and Ross and was everyone's friend
But sadly poor Ted did not have a good end

At Southern Cross close to old Koroit Town
By a car or a truck on the roadway ran down
Everyone who knew Ted him surely will miss
He did deserve a better ending that this

Though not in poor health he was partially blind
Ted as a dog he was gentle and kind
At least he did not die as some dogs do old pain ridden and sick
His ending for him it was painless and quick

A black and white border collie as a working dog bred
He was a faithful old companion dog Ted
Grieved by his best mates Jenny and Ross
He died on the roadway at Southern Cross.
