In Millstreet Since Then Poem by Francis Duggan

In Millstreet Since Then

Through the fields the old Finnow bank high did flow
And Clara hill was wearing his hat of snow
And a cold north wind from the mountains did blow
On the day I left Millstreet two decades ago
Great changes have happened in Millstreet since then
The babes of that year now young women and men
And I've been told Millstreet has undergone change
And were I to return to there I'd find the place strange
In Millstreet Town changes have been happening there
But changes have been taking place everywhere
Different to the Millstreet Town I can recall
But I bet Clara hill would not have changed at all
And the old fields some of them had a given name
More likely than not they would look much the same.
