In My Own Life-Time Poem by Francis Duggan

In My Own Life-Time

In my own lifetime I won't live for to see
A World that's free of war and poverty
There will be the haves and have nots and us against they
Long after my remains will have gone to decay.

With climate change widespread and hunger and disease
And millions if not billions of environmental refugees
Going by what experts have written and what experts have said
For all life forms many tough decades ahead.

Evidence of climate change is now Worldwide on every shore
It has been happening now for three decades or more
The smell of pollution is blowing in the wind
And the greatest polluters of course human-kind.

In a World where conflict and famine is rife
The struggle of survival is their greatest battle in life
And now with climate change we have to contend
To Mother Earth we have not been a good friend.
