In Our Pomp Poem by Paul Reed

In Our Pomp

There we were

Striding with big strides

Getting on scary rides

Living life just for fun

Energy in our legs

A spring in our step

Full of vim, full of pep

Not a worry, not a care

Never for a moment did we doubt

That always we would have it all

Ride any storm, any squall

We could do anything

Life was just a game

A foolish, childish romp

We were in our pomp

In those golden days

We were at the peak

Although we didn't know

That things would get slow

And it wasn't for ever
