In Tender Hours Poem by Alonzo Titus

In Tender Hours

In the tender hours of twilight
I see your smiling face again,
and it warms my heart as always
although my sight is growing dim,
many years have crossed our life line,
many things have come and gone,
but my love for you is enduring,
and my need for you is strong.

In our early years your beauty
is what drew me to your side,
I never dreamed that you would ever
agree to join me as my bride,
across the years your love has kept me
from a life of fear and strife,
and the softness of your touch was there
to calm the stormy night.

I see my children all about me,
I see the tear fall across your face,
I know the time is coming
when my soul must leave this place,
as the darkness gathers around me,
there's a bright light calling me,
it's your love across our life time,
that sets my soul and spirit free.
