Irish Girls Poem by Alonzo Titus

Irish Girls

Rating: 4.5

Jet black hair and sharp green eyes
just an Irish girl passing by,
a smile from her and a pouting look
puts most young men in hot pursuit.
But before you join this heart felt hunt
understand Irish fathers can be blunt,
and if you cause her a tear drop shed
he'll lay a shillelagh across your head.

If you think you can take her home
you better quit kissing the Blarney Stone,
for an Irish wedding must take place
with the Priest having read the bands,
and all the requirements must be met
when you ask her father for her hand.
The welfare of an Irish Girl
is paramount you'll find,
not only to her Parish priest
but upmost in her families mind.

You must swear to always protect her,
if need be with your life,
and provide for her through out her days
if she's to be your wife,
you must love and raise your children
through the Holy Church in which you wed,
only after all these things are met
and your union finally blest,
may she go with you into your home
and share the place you rest.
