In The Band Poem by Cat Ducat

In The Band

Football players dashing cross field,
Cheerleaders doing back flips across the track.
Fans cheering, 'Get that ball back! '
But in the band, in the stands,
Is the best place to be.

Pep tunes and junk food,
Best friends and football.
Plumes on our hats standing tall.
'Louie, Louie' and 'I Love Rock and Roll'
'Wipe out' and 'The Star Spangled Banner'

Fighting over flipbooks,
Screaming at each unfair call.
Band is one family in all.
Best place to be at a game,
Is up in the stands, in the band.

Halftime arouses, it's time to go.
Time to put on the Marching Band Show.
Horn pops and flag twirls,
Forming diamonds and deep, tight swirls.
Play the 4 movements with nothing but confidence,
Show the crowd the band's real sense.

Show's over, game's wrapping up.
Food is being picked up, the band in a rut.
Now we have to wait another week,
For flipbooks, pep tunes, and fun.
Now tomorrow, Zero Hour awaits us.

Best place is in the stands, in the band.
