In The Meantime Poem by Jim Boone

In The Meantime

When I was born, it was with
A twist and a challenge.
Time and tide perverts,
Straight and narrow,
Made me feel that being
At one with what was being
Done unto and into Jimmy
Was my lot for this life.

I knew it wasn't, but I had
The kind of early guidance
That planted an 'undeserving'
Core belief that was deep-rooted.

Luv and lust queered my hopes
For falling into my romance,
And so I stumbled into others,
Couldn't accept youthful realities
While giving each pickup moment
My heart-felt satisfaction intent.

Goodbye sagged trick road.
Starting here and now, there's
One or no one for me, while
In the meantime, doin the same
Old stuff, is beyond worrying me.

Gotta write. Gotta listen. Gotta be.
