In The Middle Of The Day/Calm Poem by Shalom Freedman

In The Middle Of The Day/Calm

In the middle of the day
Calm
A day's work done
I listen for the voice within myself
That will write a poem for me
I need not rush
I listen
I write
Perhaps I am too easy on myself
And let words come without criticism
But I am quiet now
And this sentence is so soft
It cannot hear itself talk.
