Maybe fear does not knock, does not announce itself, does not warn. It simply walks beside us, matching our pace, waiting for the moment we are too tired to notice it has already surrounded us. Perhaps the silence is not empty at all, but crowded with thoughts we never speak. The kind that grow heavier in the dark. The kind that turn sunset into a reminder that light does not last. And maybe night is not frightening because of what we see in it, but because of what it gives us time to remember. We all know what it feels like to be stalked by doubt. To feel something watching from the edges of our mind. To carry a scream that never makes a sound. To want someone to hear the breaking of our soul before it fully collapses. And maybe what we truly fear is not being devoured by the darkness, but being left alone with it. Maybe all we ever ask for is a hand in the shadows. A promise that when the silence grows loud, we will not face it by ourselves.
