In The Moment Poem by Kevin Moore

In The Moment

Today, I am not engaged in any race or test of endurance but simply a day. One day. One day, taken today, is no more than I can handle nor any less than that which is expected of me. I will not waste my time pining for yesterday - a day long gone and as unreachable as a fleeting thought - and I will not expend valuable energies in fear or worry of tomorrow. I refuse to waste precious time living in anticipation of what may - or may not - happen. My journey is now. My life is this moment. Today I may stumble, blinded by my own shallow understanding, but I will not stay down - today I will embrace the friendship of others and extend my hand to someone else who may have stumbled, too. Today I will feel free to laugh recklessly, cry shamelessly, love hopelessly and hope fearlessly. Today I may - at some random and unknown point - grin foolishly or weep openly with gratitude. Today - and just for today - I will accept that I have been given a Gift and choose without thought or reservation to Live.
