In The Pandemic Year Poem by Shalom Freedman

In The Pandemic Year

No one knows what they are
Do they have it or not?
Is breathing permitted
Close to one you love?
The war has begun
But there is nothing to fight it with
‘But hand washing and social distance'
I do not know if my words have any meaning
Or whether all this is inactivity will mean total despair for millions
I am just trying to maintain a reasonable way of being
Whatever that is
‘Don't harm anyone especially not-intentionally'
The morning has not yet begun
And already I have written a poem
What the day will bring
I have no idea.
