In The Shadows Of The Hills Poem by Francis Duggan

In The Shadows Of The Hills

The road winds up and down
To and from the little mountain town
In the shadows of the hills
Of the free flowing mountain rills
Where the skylark upwards fly
Like a small speck in the sky
His song melodious and clear
Is so pleasant for to hear
In the high woodlands in the Spring
The nesting birds whistle and sing
Splendid views for miles around
From the foothills of the higher ground
Where peace and beauty meet
Far from the noisy city street.
