There is a tension in your comparison: presumably your soul is ultimately immortal and it has fixed eternal shape or identity.A wave is just a scrap of water momentarily assuming a shape which is vanishing a micro-second after forming. And then the water which constituted it returns to be played out again. And again. But the soul stays put -or does it? Perhaps it is the soul which has animated everything. Perhaps it's the soul that is just bidding its time for the occasion to show it is nimble, mercurial and everlasting.
