In This Together Poem by Rachel Davis

In This Together

Rating: 5.0

Today I was overcome, with sadness and with grief
I heard about the lock down, my heart sank with disbelief
I really feel so sad, I miss my family and friends very much
Cuddles, playing games, and that human touch

Who has all the answers, no one seems to know
The problems keep on coming blow after blow
One thing I have learnt is what we focus on will grow
Perhaps instead of resisting, we could all go with the flow

There is so much loss & disarray - how are we to cope?
Let's hold our heads up high, and clutch hold of our friend hope
Don't forget about the beauty, that still stands all around
Like the kindness of your neighbour, or pretty leaves on the ground

When it all gets too much for you, try going for a walk
You could even pick up the phone or meet one person to talk
Listen to the birds, they always sing to you
They seem to try to cheer you up when you are feeling blue

Write a plan for what you want, when the lock down is lifted
When we are able to do those things, we will really feel gifted
One thing I know is hard but important to never, never
Feel like you're alone in this - you are not... We are in this together
