Incomplete Poem by Angela Wybrow

Incomplete

Every day since you were taken away,
There's been so much that I've wanted to say:
I remember the day when you faded from view,
And it broke my heart almost in two.

Into the distance, you faded away:
With all of my heart, I wished you could stay.
I only see you once in a while:
I miss your face and your cheeky smile.

My one and only precious child,
The distance between us is driving me wild.
You and I, we live far apart,
And, every day, it breaks my heart.

From my womb, hence you came,
And it was I who gave you your name.
As far as you know, I am your Aunt:
I'd love to tell you, but know that I can't.

You're not yet five, so still far too young;
So, for a few more years, I must hold my tongue.
I wish you were living under my roof,
And wish that I could tell you the truth.

Sometimes I am overcome with emotion;
The tears I cry would create a huge ocean.
I wish that I could fast forward time,
And reveal to you that you, babe, are mine.
