Incorrigible Humanity Poem by Dr John Celes

Incorrigible Humanity

Most people never change their attitude,
Although life teaches lessons of import;
They continue their habits old and bad,
Unable to improve their behavior.

They take things easy though life hurts them hard;
Whatever punishments come, they stay same;
Some go on further taking much more risks;
But life brings them to grinding halt too soon.

The lure of lucre makes most people mad;
They delve in ways insane and pretty sad;
Their risky ways give them more blinding blows;
But when they realize, it is too late.

The mighty flying higher than they should,
Crash down on earth by foolishness excess;
They lose all things, ill-gotten wealth as well,
Some languishing in jails, until their end.

Why people do not learn from mistakes past?
Why people cannot wiser be in life?
How people lie and talk insensibly!
They will not learn from blunders others make.
