India: A Land of Many Paths
Prabir Gayen
When a nation stands divided
By differences of faith and vision,
The path to harmony seems distant,
And the solution beyond reach.
Yet India is an ancient land,
The land of Rama, Krishna,
Buddha, and Mahavira;
The land of the Vedas,
the Upanishads, and the Gita;
The land of the Dhammapada and the Brahma Sutras;
A land where love, peace, and compassion
Have inspired countless generations.
India is a land of both theist and atheist,
A land where diverse paths seek the same Truth.
Here, the Divine is approached in many ways,
For every form is but a shadow of the Formless.
It is a land of infinite possibilities,
Where knowledge, devotion, and action
Are all honoured as paths to realization.
Yoga, meditation, contemplation, and selfless service
Have flourished side by side through the ages.
From time immemorial,
seekers have walked this soil,
Seeing the presence of the Eternal
in all existence.
Teachers, sages, and saints have taught
That Truth transcends
all boundaries and divisions.
Through the centuries,
many peoples came to this land,
Bringing their beliefs, customs,
and traditions.
Some interactions enriched society;
Like Christianity, Tao and Zen,
Lao Tzu, Socrates and heraclitus,
Others brought conflict and suffering.
Yet the spirit of India endured.
Today, humanity stands at a crossroads.
Science and technology are transforming the world,
While ancient wisdom continues to inspire millions.
The challenge before us is not merely political or religious,
But deeply human:
How can diverse communities live together
With dignity, respect, and mutual understanding?
The answer cannot lie in hatred,
Nor in the destruction of those
who differ from us.
For hatred only gives birth
to further hatred.
True strength arises from wisdom, courage, and compassion.
India's greatest gift to the world
Has been the ideal that Truth may be approached in many ways.
Its highest vision is not domination,
But harmony amidst diversity.
If humanity is to move forward,
It must combine scientific progress
With spiritual wisdom;
Reason with compassion;
Freedom with responsibility.
Let every community preserve its heritage,
While respecting the heritage of others.
Let women and men alike become bearers of courage,
Wisdom, and noble character.
Let the spirit of the Divine Mother
inspire strength,
Not for conquest, but for protection
and service.
May India continue to be
a beacon of wisdom,
A land where many paths coexist,
And where the ancient ideal of
'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam'
— 'The World is One Family'
Guides humanity toward
a more peaceful future.
Only the daughters of Sanatana Dharma, Awakened to their ancient strength,
Can become guardians of compassion, Wisdom, courage, and truth.
Let the spirit of Durga arise In every girl and woman of this land;
Let the fearless grace of Kali Destroy ignorance, hatred, and fear.
Let mothers, daughters,
and sisters Stand as protectors
of justice and harmony,
Preserving the timeless heritage
Of this sacred civilization.
Let this land be protected from Evil religious belief that knows only bloodshed.
Let cruelty and ignorance be defeated
by our pure motherly spirit of Our motherland.
