Indian At All Poem by Laura Kiernan

Indian At All

Rating: 1.6

I watched two friends pass a joint back and forth
And take turns drinking big swallows of rum

They offer the joint to me
And I want to say no
But I take a hit
And nothing happens

They offer the rum to me
And I want to say no
But I take five big gulps
And nothing happens

I wonder if I'm so numb
That drugs and alcohol cannot affect me
Because I'm Indian
And have a high tolerance

And then I wonder if I'm so numb
Just because I am Indian at all
