Indian Lady, American Scholar Poem by Sumita Jetley

Indian Lady, American Scholar

Beneath the scholar's quill and the scientist's lens,
Two worlds converged where knowledge bends.
Ananya and Michael, an unlikely pair,
In love's quiet glow, found something rare.

In Boston's halls, where wisdom spoke,
Michael watched as Ananya awoke
Ancient tales with fervor and grace,
A light in her eyes time couldn't erase.

He was of logic, of structure, of fact,
She wove history, her voice intact.
Together they danced through day and night,
A harmony born of shadow and light.

In their home of books and endless debate,
They carved out moments from the hands of fate.
His lab called him to mysteries profound,
Her students listened as her stories resound.

Yet deep in her heart, an ache remained,
A longing for skies her soul had claimed.
For India's festivals, its monsoon rains,
The language of love in her native veins.

Michael would watch as her thoughts would stray,
Her smile touched by shadows of yesterday.
With quiet strength, he built her a space,
A haven of calm, a creative embrace.

Her pen became her solace, her voice,
Each word a bridge, a deliberate choice.
Through pages and ink, her sadness poured,
Until pride and purpose became her reward.

And when the world stilled, and work gave way,
They'd sit on a hill at the close of day.
The sunset painted the earth in gold,
As their love's quiet story softly told.

Hand in hand, they would simply be,
Two souls at peace by the endless sea.
A tale of connection, of passion and grace,
Of finding eternity in each other's face.

Their love, like the sunset, was serene and vast,
A timeless bond, unburdened by the past.
And in that moment, their hearts aligned,
A harmony perfect, a love redefined.
