Infancy Poem by kim monton

Infancy

Slowly, little by little, piece by piece,
I emerged from my mother's womb.
This is the day when I first faced the world and see the light.
I could hardly see, I could barely hear;
But I could move, I could breathe.
Now, I know I'm living on my own..
in a real world God has presented to me.
On my own? A separate entity.

Seconds, minutes, hours..
Days, weeks, and months..
Time runs fast.
Each time, I discover something new;
How sound made me move
when I hear the laughter and voices of the people around;
How touch made me tingle
when I feel my mother's caress and touch
while she sings sweetly for me;
How scent made me turn
when I smell the sweet scent of baby powder and cologne on my body;
How sight made me appreciate
the beautiful creations of God;
but there's one thing that I like most,
the feelings inside me;
The warmth, care, and love
that grow deep within me.

From my simple coos to utter words,
of the complexities in life;
on these tender years I have.
I may be too young and innocent, an infant;
but I understand that
what lies ahead are bounds yet to see,
for me to search,
for me to learn,
for me to live..
in what they call..Life!
