Infatuation Poem by Jennifer Peckins

Infatuation

I want to be something
Something I’m not
You want me to be everything
But everything is a lot

I want to be a fighter
A fighter who loves
You want me to be “what I want”
But you’re still restricting from above

I want to be the dark sky
And every twinkling star
You want my head to stay on the ground
My focus to be where you are

I wan to be all knowing
An all-knowing kid
You want me to grow up
And forget the childish things I did

I want to be supple lips
Kissable and always warm
You want me to be agile
Always keeping you from harm

I want to be gazing eyes
Constantly searching and mysterious
You want my vision to be centered
My outlook to be serious

I want to be powerful like hell
And desired like heaven
You just want me to live a full life
My age to surpass twenty-seven

I want to be you
Sometimes when I’m alone
You want me to be satisfied
Because my mind is my home
