Inner Call Poem by PRAVEEN KUMAR English Poems

Inner Call

She had all that blessed in her life,
All that common soul needs in life;
She had height, breadth and depth,
Width and length of all the strength
Life ever needs to sustain for growth,
Sewn to her life-frame in abundance
Like in noon sunshine radiate brilliance.

Yet she chose to discard them all
In preference to her firm inner call,
She fouled upon all the distractions,
She discarded in disdain distortions.

She shed all comforts surrounding her,
Gate-crashed to world, weird, insecure,
Bothered not what her reputation caused
While enfold to her goal deep inside;
Her path was long, and full of hardships,
Yet the falls or breaks stopped her not;
Decades so rolled, testified her resolve
To fulfill inner call that roused her role;
She remained she, and firm on course
Though age took toll; strength, flailed,
And the call did hide in intangible cloud.

She knew herself, her inner call
How for her is sublime and tall;
Life bereft of that cherished goal,
She knew her leads to helluva fall.

She turned not back, once set on march,
And marched on like indefatigable soul;
She looked not sideways to apostatize
While sight on goal like an inbuilt tool;
Self is Self, seeks all material comforts,
But so innate in her, it submitted to her;
Nothing lured her, and route bored her not
While decades rolled in monotonous role;
Yet she walks with goal firm on horizon,
Hoping some day she embraces her man.
