Fate has betrothed us both from birth:
The son of Sky and daughter of Earth
My own beloved one, my Muse, my other half,
To you alone I pledge my loving heart.
You scatter light with your joyful kiss,
And with your beams disperse my dreams.
To me you bring new love and strength,
True voice of universal grace,
And when at night the sun has set
I cast aside my daytime cares,
Give up my life to your embrace
And with my brushes bring to birth
Our passion’s fruit, a new born child of Earth.
