Insatiable Mortal Poem by Adebayo Tajudeen

Insatiable Mortal

Give man life
He ask or immortality,
give him a wife
he lusts for concubines
give him children
he wants progenies.

Give a man a dwelling;
he delights a palace of
garden and maids!
Give him a meal
he longs for a banquet
give him Velvets
he desires diamond apparels.

Give man pennies;
he aspires for millions
give him heaps of silver
he wishes for gold
give him the earth
he dreams of the moon.

Give man a grave;
he craves for a tomb.
O! Son of sand from dust
forgotten you are of clay?
Decay! You insatiable mortal
nothing fills your vessel but
heaps of dusts
till lowered beneath the narrow confine.
